DescriptionWow guys... just wow! This splash is just magnificent! I dont know much about the story, as to why it went unused. But this is the nicest Wrightson / Kaluta collaborative piece I've ever seen, and now I have it. I dont think i'd have been able to afford if not for it's unpublished condition lol. The piece is Wrightson pencils, and some shared inks. Mike Burkey stated Wrightson inked Cain and the plague cart / driver. I think he's right. Those lines are super precise, except i think maybe Kaluta did the top hat. It's got more of a textured look that I think fit's Mike's style more. Man just Holy Wow! This piece is making me go absolutely nuts! Two Masters showing us their best. I'm really just humbled to have it in my collection. As I learn more about the piece, i'll share. If anyone knows about it's provenance, please reach out to me. I'd love to have a chat. Social/Sharing |

The imagery is off-kilter while the inking is precise and the combination is quite stunning.

WOW! This is it! The most wonderful artist of the 70's. I could reduce my entire collection to this kind of gem.

This thing is just great. I've been staring at it trying to figure out who inked what. I can't. It appears to be mainly Wrightson inks to me, but something about the figure top left feels a little more Kaluta. I wouldn't be surprised if this is Kaluta pencils and Wrighton inks mostly. But you know what, it doesn't f%$#ing matter. It's an excellent page.

Great pairing of two friends/colleagues. I didn't think anyone could ink Bernie as well as he did himself but I might have to reconsider that...if nothing else a close second. Drips with EC influence and a style uniquely Wrightson.

Great piece, I love the tone and the sort of reptilion vibe the horse is giving off.

Wow - that's just outstanding! Quite the jam page - you can pretty much tell where Mike inked and where Bernie inked. I almost bought the unfinished version of this, and didn't know until today that this was on CAF!

Take a look at this version of the same page, but by Wrightson alone:
https://www.comicartfans.com/gallerypiece.asp?Piece=310068&GSub=0&GCat=25829&UCat=25829
I've also seen a third drawing of the driver with the horse and carriage by Wrightson, but at a greater distance, and with rats in the foreground. Makes one wonder why he attempted this page three times, then never finished the story.
