DescriptionWith the recent return of Conan to Marvel, the thought of a piece with him claiming the "Iron" Throne crossed my mind, but despite the previous what if scenarios that Marvel has done featuring the barbarian and Marvel's own, I still wasn't sure. But once I heard Andrea's passion for the character, I was sold. Let's go for it! Not long after Marvel announced Conan would be one of the featured characters in their new "Savage Avengers" title. I was both skeptical and intrigued, especially since many Conan purists I know downright dismissed the idea of having any merit whatsoever. Then Andrea and his rep, Fred Chamberlain, shot this over to me. WOW! If this piece doesn't make you believe Conan could find a place in the Marvel Universe, nothing will! Now THAT is a Savage Avenger!Social/Sharing |

Is this your first Conan GoT commission? Hard to believe since he seems like such an obvious choice to sit in the "big chair". Anyway, easily one of the most powerful examples in your GoT theme. Congratulations buddy!

Thanks, Eric! It is! I'd considered it in the past, but since I was sticking with Marvel Universe characters, I had mentally crossed him off my list. Once the charcter passed back to Marvel though . . . it was time to make it happen.

Pretty awesome and almost too perfect a mashup like Eric mentioned. Loving these recent pieces from Andrea! Great artist and human being all around.

Really impressive! Cool seeing all the scars and great detail all around. And love the look on Conan’s face - don’t mess with this guy! Been seeing a lot of nice commissions by Di Vito here on CAF and this is no exception. Congrats!

Ha! No, not mine. I actually asked Andrea if it was his, because it resembled a picture of him online. His response: "LOL no . . . that is Numedidies, King of Aquilonia before Conan relieved him of the crown and the head it rested upon."

Fantastic commission! Love Conan's defiant attitude. The head under his foot only exemplifies his mood. Beautifully executed.
