Description

As an American latecomer to the world of 2000 A.D., Rogue Trooper and Strontium Dog were the first characters I really fell in love with from those zarjaz early Progs while devouring the collected trade collections. Johnny Alpha in particular really struck a chord from the very first time I read his exploits. And to me, Carlos Ezquerra is clearly the definitive artist on the character. In hopes of buying a Strontium Dog page, I'd been in communication with Carlos for nearly a year prior to his untimely death. The man was amazingly friendly and enjoyable to chat with, but I had turned down numerous pages on offer -- in hopes of finding the perfect example. In retrospect, there are a few that I should have snatched up when given the chance, and who knows where they are now. In the months since Carlos's passing, the search continued with mixed results. I had just about given up finding something that I really wanted when this one showed up, and I knew it was time to pull the trigger. The image of Johnny and Wulf is great, but the different aliens and reference to bounty hunting are what really make this special. Thrilled to finally have the page in hand which is soon to be framed and hanging on my wall. Thanks to Simon Dentith for an easy transaction.

SD by Carlos is the epitome of the character, I can see what you mean the panel with Johnny & Wulf is classic but it's the aliens that make this page special!

Great to hear about you speaking to him before he so sadly passed away.

Fantastic page with pretty much all you could wish for - and the panel layout (and shapes) is just wonderful. Great stuff.
