Description

Some years back I remember reading Sal Buscema�s biography and I thought what a shame Sal never got a shot at doing the Justice Society.

Flash forward to 2018 and Scott Kress over at Catskill Comics announced Sal was taking commissions.

I went ahead and got on the list and my original intent was to have Sal do an emerald warrior�. Alan Scott-Green Lantern. But it was in my head that Sal should do the JSA.

Scott and I talked about it, he gave me a quote and with the help and support of my loving wife, I rolled the dice and asked Scott to commission Sal to do the JSA� for the first time ever I believe.

Scott also agreed to put me on Sal�s list for a single commission, so at some point we�ll get to see his take on the original Green Lantern.

There was little choice in what I would ask Sal to do, I have long admired Wally Wood�s 70�s calendar image of the Justice Society and always thought it would be perfect for Sal to reinterpret in his own style, much like he took Kirby�s covers and re-imagined them during his Marvel years on titles like Marvel Triple Action.

I asked for one significant change, I am not that big a fan of the Star Spangled Kid, so I asked Sal to put Starman in his place.

So special thanks to my wife, Scott Kress and of course the man who entertained us for countless hours throughout the bronze Age and beyond... Sal Buscema.
