DescriptionThere are no bad pages in DWJ's BRB, and I am extremely fortunate to have this one in my greedy mitts. I've participated in several of Felix's drops over the past couple years, but this is the first one that really humbled me. In the past, I've never missed out on a piece because I didn't click fast enough, except when I intentionally delayed after balking at the price tag. This is a familiar story to most CAF members at this point, but at the BRB drop I hastily clicked on 7 pages within seconds of the start of the drop (I think it was 8, actually, but I must have hit the back button too soon in one case), and initially wondered if I had spent too much (lol) only to find out that I was not 1st to click on *any* of them... Lucky for me, the person ahead of me decided to spread the wealth and buy only one of the 2 or more he/she won, or perhaps they experienced sticker shock after clicking wildly without looking at the prices, and I got the opportunity to grab this. This page features a half splash of Fin Fang Foom---one of my all-time fav Kirby pre-code monsters---mugging for the camera, along with a heroic Lady Sif, a diminutive BRB in the lower right calling in Skuttlebutt reinforcement, the Rainbow Bridge leading through Galactus's helmet in the wall protecting Asgard (with marginal notes to Mike Spicer re bridge colors), and all manner of mayhem (note the disembodied legs strutting at bottom of page and severed torso at lower right). DWJ is a master of all moods, quiet or loud like this one here. Another tip of my hat to Felix for his boundless effort and consideration! Thanks for taking a look! Social/Sharing |

Wow! This one was a standout to me as well. I'm really glad it all worked out for you. This is a piece that becomes a cornerstone of a collection, it's that good. Huge congrats!

The pure viciousness of the carnage! Applies to both the artwork and the art drop.
DWJ has such a great way of storytelling to give Sif a rallying cry first panel and then it is quickly surpassed by Foom's enthusiasm for blood!

That half splash is the kind of image that sticks in your memory long after you've read the book. It's only going to get harder getting DWJ art, so huge congrats on getting such a stellar example while I suspect we are still in the early days of his meteoric rise.

One of many pages I made an attempt at, congratulations. Not many can do motion and action like DWJ, what a page!

I'm enjoying the lettering on this nearly as much as the art :)

Huge congrats on nabbing this one! I never understood the character Fing Fang Foom until I saw Daniel's take in this issue. He makes him seem so powerful and menacing and this page is a huge part of that!

Looking at this page is the equivalent of skydiving without a parachute. Incredible energy.

Fin Fan KA-FOOM! I felt a little onomatopoeia boost was called for here. I dig how explosive this page feels. Overlapping screams, slicing and dicing, FFF flying off of the page, and even a SQUISH. DWJ has such a great sensibility, and I love the inherent humor in his work. If I had him under a microscope, his genetic lineage feels like a mixture of Jack Davis and Humberto Ramos, to me. Sweet swipe here. Congrats!

Wow, so incredible!! This dynamic image really brings home the fact that Fin Fang Foom is not just a loveable Marvel monster. He's carnage personified (and he loves his job). You can just imagine him whipping his long neck back and forth snatching up Asgardians in his teeth. One poor guy is still walking along even though the top half of his body has just been removed, sword still hovering in the air! Brilliant artistry!!
