Description

I'm not sure where this Gus Dirks cartoon was published, but it likely appeared in one of the magazines mentioned in the main gallery description, circa 1900. Dirks wrote his address on the front (788 Broadway), and there is a slightly different pencil version of the cartoon on the back.

ADDENDUM (4/9/2024): Success! After combing through a couple years each of Judge and LIFE magazine archives, I've finally located the printed cartoon! It appeared in the November 7, 1901 issue of LIFE with the following caption: Farmer Field Mouse: "Hey, there, you flies get off! I thought it was queer why my team couldn't budge this load." Not the greatest knee-slapper in the world, but it's great to *finally* know where and when this cartoon was published.
