Popeye Daily Comic Strip Original Art (King Features Syndicate, 1936).

From the "JEEP" story - mar. to aug. '36.
For some reason Wimpy and Olive have bet against Popeye in a boxing match and the poor girl can't remember who to root for. image area measuring 20.5" x 4.5".

In questa storica striscia del '36 Segar ci pone, insieme a Poldo ed Olivia, come spettatori di un incontro di boxe tra Braccio di Ferro e un certo Jimmy, questa striscia cronologicamente appartiene alla storia intitolata il "Jeep", pubblicata dal 20 marzo 1936 al 3 agosto 1936. Eugene il Jeep venne regalato a Braccio di Ferro da Olivia,la strana creatura della quarta dimensione sembr� prevedere che il marinaio avrebbe perso un incontro di pugilato. Infatti ogni volta gli si poneva la domanda: "Braccio di Ferro perder� l'incontro?" lui alzava sempre la coda, il che significava "risposta affermativa". Tale previsione si rivel� sbagliata, ed Olivia considerando Eugene un bugiardo, decise di sbarazzarsene. In seguito Braccio di Ferro scoprir� che Eugene semplicemente alzava la coda per osservare un moscerino posatosi al suo fianco, e se ne servir� nell'episodio successivo per ritrovare suo padre.
Nato nel 1929 Popeye � uno tra i personaggi a fumetti pi� popolari di sempre, Segar disegna in modo magistrale tutte le strip per circa 10 anni, fino al 1938, anno della sua prematura scomparsa, in seguito Popeye venne disegnato da Doc Winner, Bill Zaboly e Bud Sagendorf.

Un Classico, con la c maiuscola! E, con tutto il rispetto per i successivi ottimi disegnatori, Segar era veramente un fenomeno!
