DescriptionTo me, there isn't really any bigger "grail" than a Fantastic Four cover under #100 by the dream team of Jack Kirby & Joe Sinnott! Certainly a classic cover with a huge Dr. Doom looming over his castle. This is somewhat similar to Detective Comics #31 with huge Batman peering over that castle.If there is a more detailed cover by Kirby & Sinnott, I haven't seen it! They packed a lot of detail into this one. With only about 50 or so FF covers known to exist from #1-100, this one is easily a top 5. Social/Sharing |

One of the very best Kirby Doc Doom covers . . . remember buying the comicbook and thinking, "Wow!" To the best of my recollection, this was owned for a long-time by a UK collector and may have been folded at some point?

One of my all-time favourite "Villain looming overhead" covers. The scene with such a beautifully detailed Latverian village is just exquisite. A true gem in a collection already quite replete with them, congratulations!

Okay, you win. Yeah, I know it's not a contest. But if it was, you win. Actually, even in a contest, it would be no contest. Know what I mean? A Kirby and Sinnott Silver Age, pre-100, FF cover with Dr. Doom. Not sure it gets any more epic than this. You are really closing out the year with a barrage of phenomenal pieces. Congratulations on all these truly precious gems.

A great treat to see! Kirby and Sinnott at their best! Doom and the FF reached their full visual potential in this majestic era of Marveldom. For the time period and the Latverian setting, it might even be considered Marvel Camelot that shines with optimism. This is the look for them that has endured through the years.

Stunning cover. To me this is peak Kirby Sinnott. That storyline was perfect, with a great, unexpected ending. Musuem quality.

BiG congratulations West!!! Absolutely stunning and one of the more memorable covers of the entire run. This one has everything going for it. I'm glad I got to see it close up in Ohio at the CAF get-together.

Dear West, this is an amazing piece of cover artwork! It would have taken great financial sacrifice but it was well worth it. Many congratulations because it is not only the classic (and ideal) FF combination of Kirby and Sinnott but also because you have the quintessential villain Dr Doom looming large in the background (which is so reminscent of the classic cover to FF #39).
