�� My Neighbor Totoro features sisters Satsuki and Mei. Their father moves the family to an old country house where they can be close to their convalescing mother. As the two girls are exploring their new home, they discover the stairway to the attic. Here, the sisters find an acorn and examine it. I found this cel at Kimono My House in Emeryville, California over twenty years ago. I doubt I could afford to buy it these days.

�� Hayao Miyazaki was inspired by a small forest near Tokyo and there is an effort to buy the land and preserve the forest. In 2008, Dice Tsutsumi, Enrico Casarosa, Ronnie del Carmen and other artists created paintings and other art for the Totoro Forest Project, a fundraising auction. After the auction, the pieces went on display at the Cartoon Art Museum. James Jean's contribution is promised to San Francisco's Asian Art Museum.
