DescriptionI remember having heard that Damion Scott said he felt this was either his favorite or best cover (I don't recall which -- favorite or best -- was the claim, to be honest) from his days working on Cassandra Cain/Batgirl. I was the owner of the piece then, and inquired with him, and he seemed to confirm it.It is rather the pinnacle of the style he developed, I think, that became such a fan favorite for a time. Near as I can tell, there are pretty much three phases to Scott's evolution as a comic artist: First was in his early days, having come fresh out of the Kubert School -- more attention to p's and q's of anatomy and detail, relatively speaking. The second was what he became best known for as he eased into really developing a personal style: A clean, smooth and fluid line suggestive of form and motion that guided the eye, with details reduced to what was essential. This reached its height on "Batgirl," and some issues of "The Spectacular Spider-Man." The third emerged, as I recall, around when he was working on "Robin." Fewer of the clean lines, sometimes a rougher, unfinished look. When I asked him about the evolution, he told me he felt it was a return to his street-art roots. He seems to have been making his way with that style for the most part ever since -- most apparent in his "Solo" issue (#10) for DC, some work on "All-New Ghost Rider" for Marvel, and on "Accell" for Lion Forge. My personal preferences for his comic book work still lie most strongly in that second phase, but I really dig some more of his modern art outside of comics. He is a wonderful talent. Great cover and description! I became familiar with Damion's work during his Robin run and love his stuff.

Thanks! Yeah, he's great. I picked up a little piece from his run on Robin, too, before he made his street-art shift; I'll have to get that up here as well at some point.

Great cover from a great serie. Always loved his art (Kubert school by way of hip hop).

It is always fascinating to see how life experiences influence an artist. Spending his youth in Brooklyn makes for an interesting spin, it seems.
