DescriptionThis year I finally gave in to my boss's request to give the world of Lord of the Rings a try and watched the movie trilogy. It was everything that everyone has said it was and more. So much so that the movies weren't enough, I fell down the rabbit hole of the books and the true lore of this world completely opened up. The books are fantastic reads and the variety of the editions with illustrations were fantastic. Which leads to this commission. Ted Nasmith is one of the classic Lord of the Rings painters that frequently provides his wonderfully rendered illustrations for many of the books and calendars. One such book, Unfinished Tales (Illustrated Edition) which collects a variety of stories previously untold, unfinished, or slightly different from what was previously published. As one of my favorite characters in this world was the Witch King, reading the story of his meeting with the wizard Saruman in his search of the one ring just completely fascinated me and couldn't help but try to get Ted's rendition of it and he did not disappoint! The way he was able to bring out such a heavy atmospheric feeling with the colors and the menace that is the Nazguls with the Witch King up front! The picture does not do it justice!20X24 canvas, 16x20 image area. Social/Sharing |

A commission that begs to be published somehwere! The ghostly mists and clouds take you away to their world.

This is a great one from Ted. With all the published work he has done and all the years of commissions I wonder where they all are?
