DescriptionWhat can I say about this sketch? I commissioned this from Jack at an Acme Con in 1985 and after paying him for it, Jack said he would send it to me when it was done. About 4 weeks later I received a letter from Roz saying Jack got a little behind in his commission work, but that he should be getting to mine soon. It arrived about 2 weeks letter with another note from Jack apologizing over and over for not getting it to me sooner even though we had never even talked about how long it would take. He said that he felt so bad about taking so long that he gave me more of a sketch than I paid for and to please never mention to anyone what I paid for this because they would then expect to get a sketch of the same quality for that same price. This is why he will always be known as the King. Hate to have to put the watermark on this gorgeous piece, but some comic artists have no qualms about downloading it, scanning it, inking the scan and then selling it when they had nothing to do with creating itSocial/Sharing |

I wish I would have started collecting art sooner. I would loved to have commissioned the King.

What an amazing piece of art with a story that's close to matching it. Jack Kirby certainly was (*is*) the greatest comic book artist who has ever lived. That, and he was extremely kind to his fans. May God keep him always. Thanks for the amazing art & wonderful story behind this astounding commission.
