DescriptionA stunning depicting of the original Captain Marvel (now known as Shazam 😕) by Argentinian-born artist Omar Francia. Omar told me he used this piece to emulate the technique of legendary movie poster artist, Drew Struzan – that is using airbrush with acrylics, and then define all the details and volumes with Prisma color pencils. I particularly like the use of of colors and shadows to create a nighttime scene. It's always a wonderful bonus when an artist records a video of their work creating a piece you own: https://www.facebook.com/reel/1761560750933331 Captain Marvel's pose was inspired by the one Francia he used for the character in his cover for the Cryptozoic box set of DC role playing cards (accompanying image). Omar has a fun and colorful style. Nice lightning glare in background and chestplate too.

nice piece, digging that airbrush base layer and further refinement. Struzan as inspiration makes complete sense!

Beefcake Shazam! So muclebound that I thought he was Prime! This looks like a masterpiece trading card painting with the 3D effect from that colortone caused by the lightning.

He is a bit Prime-like, especially the thighs.

Airbrush with acrylics, and Prisma Color pencils? Interesting. I was about to ask if he had used pastels, because that's the type of texture the piece now has, especially notable in the bottom, left corner. Great looking interpretation of Captain Marvel. He's NOT Shazam anymore than he is "The Big Red Cheese". That shit only exists if YOU continue to keep it alive by mentioning it.
