DescriptionI'm the proud owner of this original artwork by one of my very all time favorite comic book artists, Jay Anacleto. I've been following his career since the late 90s and I'm beyond psyched that what was originally a commission to pick up at NYCC last fall ended up becoming a published X-Men variant cover. I've also added some detail photos of the piece so you can see all the cool stuff like the insane detail he put into the sword hilts and all the different texture work. This is entirely done in pencil (no inks) and the way you can clearly tell the different textures on things like the wooden tree roots, the silky sash, the rocky base, and her skin, it's all pretty amazing. Unfortunately I don't have a proper scanner for an 11x17 right now so this was just taken on my phone, but trust me when I say the art looks even better in person.Jay only does commissions at comic conventions and he hadn't done one in the US since 2019 when he was announced for NYCC in 2023. I'd been waiting to get on his list and jumped at the chance when his rep opened his list for NYCC. I asked Jay to draw 90s ninja costume Psylocke and my only requests were to include her psychic knife somehow and, since I'd paid for the background upgrade, to have cherry blossoms in the background. Jay said he thought this was his first time drawing cherry blossoms and I think they turned out great! Anyways, when I met Jay at NYCC in 2023 he didn't have the commission because there was some sort of issue with his paper supplier and he didn't want to give me an inferior piece. Not his fault, and I'm glad he has such a high standard of quality, but it left me feeling a bit bummed because I'd been waiting for this one for a while. However when I heard that it would become an X-Men variant cover I def got over it, haha! This is clearly one of the best pieces in my collection, a total grail to me. Social/Sharing |

I don't see much on CAF that jumps out at me lately, but this one did, (and deserves a 21-gun salute, to boot!). I own one of Jay's pieces too. so I know exactly what you're talking about when you say yours looks so much better in person. Superb, superb work on Jay's part...and a hearty "Bravo, well done!" to you as a collector.
