Description

This is the very first image of Alex Ross's Uncle Sam himself to grace the interior pages of U.S. The first page/image of the character in the first appearance I guess you could say (minus the cover). It introduces him as a worn down individual spouting grandstands and perhaps non-sense as he is taken into the hospital. He has seen much in his years and this story is him working through his fall, his image and his potential while struggling with himself, his past and his future. It's a truly great storyline that captures both the good and bad through the caricature of Uncle Sam.

It is one of my favorite works alongside Marvel's Earth X.

*The page is oversized and too big to fit in my scanner. I also left it in the protective sleeve while scanning because of time crunch so some of the "effects" on the page are just from that. The dialogue bubbles are on a transparency overlay.

I often wonder how many people remember, or are even aware, of this book. Marvels and Kingdom Come are phenomenal works, IMHO. However, in many ways, U.S. surpasses them. It's a thought provoking story and one of my personal favorites as well. Congrats on this splendid introduction page of the main character.
