DescriptionThis is a fully penciled page by Gene Colan from the Predator story "Hell & Hot Water". Gene Colan did all the interior pencils for this mini-series and the story was published purely off his pencils and then colored. So this is the final published work and it was done on a 12" x 19" Dark Horse Comics art board.Decided to go for this page because A: I grew up watching Predator and B: Gene Colan's drawing, perspectives and style is on full display in this series. It can sometimes make a few pages hard to decipher but it oozes Gene Colan. Also, it has an interesting appearance being colored directly from the pencils and they left it very apparent it was done this way in the published work. They made it an attribute and it's a look you don't see that often. Gene Colan has slowly crept into being one of my favorite artists. I didn't grow up with his art and came across it after collecting original comic art over the years. I can spot a Gene Colan page a mile away. I understand it's not for everyone but the man had a flair about his art that just stands out to me. This is my first pencil only page and it is cool to have as it was Gene's final stand alone vision for the work and you really do see a different art perspective viewing lone pencil work. Plus Dark Horse Comic pages are just fun to get. Social/Sharing |

Pure published Colan! Every pencil line and blending in of shade builds up to the complete vision of one of the best ever! Cinematic skills were required for a movie monster that you won't get the drop on, even when hiding from within Colan's shadows.
