DescriptionI also collect Mark Twain 1st Editions and busts so this was a cool merging of two interests of mine. After missing out on this page on eBay due to forgetting to bid it luckily went unsold. It wasn't relisted but I couldn't get it out of my mind so months later reached out to the seller and quite a while later he finally listed it again...this time I did not forget. Whole process was about 8 months. Really wanted this page for the fact that Mike Ploog depicted Mark Twain himself, Tom Sawyer and Huck Finn which makes it a very special page for me.Social/Sharing |

Each panel is very storybook and shows the talents of Ploog well. It has world building, a dynamic of freindship, and sense of adventure with Twain giving them a send off. All in that great color scheme that represents the world seen through their eyes.

Mike Ploog did a good interpretation of the story while making some sacrifices and did lean towards the childhood adventure aspect of it. To be honest, his style/take on it took me a bit to warm up to but after reading it and putting down the book I must admit I was swept in for the ride. Not an easy task to interpret the story into a short graphic novel.

I wouldn't substitute this for the book, but it's there to be read afterwards.

Every page of this book is a true painted gem.
That you get to own your own favorite in a Mark Twain portrait is a great bonus.
