One more Will Eisner page....I seem to feel a need to acquire more of these as time goes on.

I first came across this page over a year ago on a reddit post entitled "A Sunset in Sunshine City, pretty sad story."

This is a sad story. A man preparing for a move in his retirement to Sunshine City starts the story walking around his old neighborhood reminiscing on memories of raising his children there and the life he lived. He then moves to Sunshine City and meets Olga, a fellow retiree, and begins to love again. Upon a visit by his daughter and son-in-law he then finds his son-in-law in bed with Olga....this is the final page where he confronts them and walks back to his own room with his sleeping daughter to a forever changed life. A Sunset....in Sunshine City.

The only post on that reddit forum was simply "Olga was a player".

So great that Eisner is able to hit the sad notes in the medium like a stage play. The clock ticking away is a great capper to the page.

Yeah, totally agree Marcus, those later works of his tend to include the small tragedies of a single or family/group/community life. The tragedies of a world within the world at the "on the street" level. He witnessed it and wanted to tell their individual tales. I believe that's why they have the impact/weight that they do.
