Description

Saw this page and something jumped out at me amongst the detailed Jackson Guice pencils and inks of this city scene...there is a hidden in plain sight artist-to-artist shout out. A nod...a wink..a respectful tip of the hat.

Take a gander...see the people going about their day. Some people watching, some reading, some in conversation while others go on their way. Look into the Beast's eye...there is a Starwatcher amongst it all.

Art is larger than a 13x19 art board

I enjoyed this book when it was first published--those squarebound specials with deeper, vibrant colors always made me feel like my teenage tastes were a little more upscale and elevated.  Didn't notice the Starwatcher at the time--so fun!

Yeah, those specials have classy look and feel.  I searched online and couldn't find a single acknowledgment of the Starwatcher Moebius reference, which isn't that surprising, but it's a neat little Easter egg.  I haven't run into many artist-to-artist Easter Eggs in original art pages.  This one too once you notice it is quite brazen, I love it.

This is great!  It shows Guice's style evolving out from the 80's superhero influences to more of the realism and wash backdrops we see today.  It's right in between where there's a bit of both.
