Description

Ok, THIS was MONUMENTAL being offered the opportunity to do ink finishes over my hero BERNIE WRIGHTSON by new client Sean Marsh!!!!! And with a character he's most known for outside of Swamp Thing- the MONSTER OF FRANKENSTEIN (and his Bride, to boot!)! Sean had a few inkers work over this piece (Joe Weems & John Floyd are the only file copies I have) as a theme to spotlight what each artist brought to it but I can no longer find that CAF gallery room under his name, only the Wrightson sketch. I wasn't happy with how the stone wall lines turned out to show light to dark, but other than that I am proud of this effort I completed on September 2, 2017, 5 and a half months after he passed. Bernie was a friend and I wish he could have seen this tribute. Thankfully, it was later printed in the Steve Niles & Shannon Denton co-edited Printed in Blood published book "Bernie Wrightson Artbook: A Tribute" which was a sincere honor for me.

It was printed as a blueline on Kubert Art Store 2-ply Strathmore board cut to letter-size, the size of the pencil file. Inked all in markers.

The man was an unequivocal master artist and a peach of a man. The best of the best. I was honored that the upcoming "Bernie Wrightson: Artbook - A Tribute" out this summer will be including this image along with so many dignified luminaries, my peers and other masters, all sharing together their adulation for this god among men.
