Description

A new client, Joshua McCoy reached out for me to ink his Cosmic Ghost Rider commission as drawn by Ron Lim. It was 9"x14" that I blew up to ink in blueline on 11"x17" Kubert 2-ply Strathmore board.
Joshua's themed gallery is described as such: The "Iron" Throne-
"Inspired by my love for the Song of Ice and Fire series of novels, the "Iron" Throne was a concept I shared with artist Scott West. He then designed and drew a brilliant piece featuring the Mandarin sitting on the throne. Not content to leave well enough alone, I thought it would be fun for other Marvel heroes and villains to lay claim to the throne."

This was my first time with the CGR character but I've inked Ron 8 times now for unpublished material like commissions. Besides my usual markers I used some other tools for SFX like either a Copic Wide, Comic medium broad or a Faber-Castell Big Brush Pen (or all three) to get the background fade off, an X-acto blade and toothbrush for the metallic shines, black and white dry brush, white paint finger smudges and some line zip to get Iron Man armor half-tones ala Bob Layton. This all really gave the image a textural feel with interesting contrasts. I completed this commission on 8/1/21.
