My very favorite plate from one of Michael�s finest series of drawings for the 1980 Lord of the Rings Calendar. Frankly, I love this pencil preliminary even more than the final piece, though both are outstanding. Buying it directly from Michael and carrying it home with me (with another plate from the same series) was a major highlight of my year.
