Description

Like pretty much every other red blooded American male my age, I grew up with the Ninja Turtles. They shaped my personal art and my comic collecting from the age of 10 on up. Watching the franchise grow and being able to share it with all three of my children has been nothing short of magical. However, despite my decades long love for the Turtles I have never had the opportunity to meet either Eastman or Laird.

I finally remedied that this summer when Kevin came out to our small but growing Colorado Springs Comic Con. My sole reason for attending the show was to meet Kevin, get a few autographs and maybe a sketch if the opportunity arose. I managed to make it into his final line for the day and purchased the sketch option. While waiting in line I was able to strike up conversation with Kevin and his wife Courtney on all things Turtles and collecting art. Courtney then directs me to his art portfolio and this cover smacks me right in the face. My one TMNT art collecting desire was to own a Leonardo piece of any quality and here it is in the form of a beautiful cover. Courtney worked with me on the purchase and even stayed late at the show to let me chat further with Kevin and take some photos.

What a dream meeting it turned out to be. Not only did it solidify my love for the TMNT and Kevin's work, I was able to make an amazing connection and have a fantastic conversation with some great comic creators. Oh, and I managed to land a grail piece I didn't even realize I'd been chasing. Huge heartfelt thanks to Kevin and Courtney for being incredible people!
