DescriptionMy favorite Image book of 2019. I love the world Millar and Coipel created and I especially love the character of Cordelia.Found myself at NYCC agonizing over which page to buy... The Magic Order book of original art was in very high demand at Kwan's booth and pages were selling like hotcakes. Phil H was very helpful and patient with my indecision. In the end, unable to just pick one example, I bought two great Cordelia pages from the concluding issue. I love Coipel's inkwash here to create the smoke effect in that last panel. The visuals match the reveal with Cordelia proving that sometimes the black sheep wears the white hat. My most favorite moment of the series, so lucky to be the custodian of this page. About the artist: (from recent CAF Roundup email by Bill Cox) In a recent interview with Joe Quesada, Coipel recalled how he took his portfolio to San Diego Comic Con to get a review with DC's art director Mark Chiarello which led to his breakout job on Legion of Super-Heroes. His career began to explode soon after, signing an exclusive contract with Marvel as a member of their first class of "Young Guns." As the artist of House of M, the first company wide crossover event Marvel had done in years, Coipel's notoriety took off. More high profile gigs followed including Siege, Thor (and later both the Mighty and Unworthy titles), X-Men, and the central artist for the Spider-Verse crossover. As far as I know The Magic Order is both the first creator owned work Coipel has done and also the first published work he has inked himself. I find that his own inks, and especially the use of grayscale such as in the featured page, give the work a depth that is absent in his other work. As Netflix had a hand in producing the comic a live action series is forthcoming. Coipel has original art available through his rep Kwan Chang. Social/Sharing |

Glad i could make your decision easier! Congrats on an awesome set of pages! Super critical parts of the story, and they couldn't have gone to a better collection!

The Magic Order is, in a word, magic. It's one of those rare books at manages to catch lightning in a bottle. This page is that lightning! Congrats on a great pick-up!
