Not new to CAF this one, but a new addition to my humble collection.

Having watched this piece being (somewhat inexplicably, I felt) shunted between new owners and auction sites over the past couple of years, I thought I'd try and put a stop to its meanderings. Having never dealt with an Auction House before however (and having always considered such sites to be very much the territory of the Big Spenders), I didn't feel that I had even the slightest chance of winning this. As it was, I was absolutely delighted to have ended up securing it for a fraction (that fraction being about a third!) of what I would normally have expected it to fetch.

Still slightly baffled as to why it evidently slipped so far 'under the radar', as I feel it's a prime piece of Ben's work and a comparatively rare example of his treatment of a three-quarter figure (rather than the portrait/profile/bust depictions with which he�s so often associated).

Thanks so much for your gracious words - good to hear from you. Yep, no two ways about it - I got lucky here (and I'm not deluding myself otherwise) - nor am I deluding myself that I'll be quite so lucky again when bidding opens on that splendid 'Vampi/Sonja' piece you posted not long ago, which is headed for Comic Link Auctions...
