And here then IS that finished Bookplate artwork. Measuring some 11" x 16.5" (and bearing a signature markedly different to that which we're all far more used to seeing gracing John's work) this, as I say, was offered to me by Liliana very much on the strength of my interest in the previously-posted Prelim. It never occurred to me that this would still be in John's possession after all these years, but I'm delighted to now be the owner of one of his finished, colour artworks. My thanks, as ever, to John and Liliana for creating and facilitating this (respectively).

Slick black leathery or insect shell hardness feel to this finished piece.

Looking at this I wonder if the recent (last few years) Travis Charest style was influenced by Bolton. Very nice pick up!

Thanks for your kind words. I'm not familiar with the evolution of Travis C's work, but I'm intrigued by your observation here; I'll try and look into this (and your thoughts on JB's possible 'fluence) in more detail... thanks for bringing it to my attention!
