Description

I have become a much bigger fan of Micheluzzi over the past few years. Understanding his work, his influences and his influence have helped me appreciate what a true master of the form he was. I had the good fortune of seeing an exhibition at Lucca last year where my friend Giovanni gave a talk. Here is the the third page in my reluctantly expanding Micheluzzi collection. Some of the elements I like in his work are not well represented in my other pieces. I like the use of sounds and that last panel is a good example of that. The contrast in patterns and textures in the first 2 tiers is well done. Micheluzzi also likes to use a off kilter perspective in panels and this creeps in in the last 2 panels. As I try and downsize my collection, I keep finding art to add. I was trying to decide which of my other two pages to part with but instead of going from 2 to 1, I went the other way to 3. To give myself some credit, I did sell off my original 3 pages of his art which I owned before knowing what I really wanted in an example from him.

Hey, you gotta give credit when credit is due! Very nice looking page, but especially the last panel. Great worm's eye view in combination with the tilted camera and sound effects curving above in unison!

This is great! As history is about to be officially erased in America for possibly a whole generation, works such as this will be come more important when proper history context and sanity makes a comeback down the line.

Great Micheluzzi page. You opened my eyes to his work at the Como show, as well as other amazing Italian masters. I look forward to diving more into his work.
