Description

A lovely festive Dragon Lady by June Brigman done in the 80's for my friend John Biernat who owned the Dragon Lady Comic shop and the Dragon Lady press. There was a nice pencil commision June did in John's sketchbook and this was further worked up into this finished drawing with inks by June's husband, Roy Richardson.

Nice and sharp inks by Roy to match the original look. He must have studied enough strips to know how to pull it off. June Brigman also used a classical look to have this calm and cool authoritative pose and facial expression.

I really enjoyed June's Power Pack work and am not sure why she did very little in comics after that, but she really captured the Caniff sensibilities here. A really fun illustration.

Nice pick up Jeff. I agree with Ruben about how June really captured the Caniff sensibilities. Something like 10 years ago Heritage offered a colored Caniff Dragon Lady illustration that just floored me and I see something of that in her face here. Bravo!
