DescriptionI really liked Rosermary's work. I especially liked Laura Dean Keeps Breaking Up With Me and What Is Left. The imagery she conjures is magical and I'd hoped to find a page by her but I believe much of her work is finished digitally so traditional pieces are scarce. When Sean at Athenaeum Comic Art mentioned that Rosemary would be doing commissions, I was happy to get a spot. Sean had previously arranged a Tillie Walden commission that blew me away and I expected nothing less this time. I am very pleased with this piece. Although the Dragon Lady's hair and ethnicity are not as Caniff had envisioned, this piece really speaks to Rosemary's style and her making the character one of her own. I gave Rosemary a choice of a few commission themes and only one was of a classic comic character. Until Sean showed the image to me, I had no idea which suggestion she had decided on.Social/Sharing |

Rosemary is an evocative artist. There's an ease with which she blankets a page so tenderly. I'm a fan not to mention a big fan of Tillie and Sean. Wonderful Jeff :-)

Nicely done taking the far east motifs of Caniff's Dragon Lady and arranging them in a closed end design that's more in line with her own style.

Beautifully rendered. Although the artist strayed from the tradional look of the Dragon Lady that we're all used to seeing, the Mucha-esque approach to the hair really works with this piece. Great commission! Congratulations Jeff!

Didn't you say you were done getting Dragon Lady commissions? Anyway, it's a very nice, indy comic looking rendition of the character. Tell me though, why did she cut off her nose to spite her face?
