Description

1979---WATERCOLOR, published in "ANIMAL QUACKERS" by CARL BARKS 1996. Quoting Carl : "Education has changed since i was in school. The poem of Young Lochinvar was required reading and memorizing. The poem was written by Sir Walter Scott, the prolific English author of the early 1800's. It never became as well known in literature as Scott's "Ivanhoe", but it got into a lot of schoolbooks of my time. I almost made the blunder of painting Lochinvar in full armor, but had the good sense to reread the poem and found that "he rode all unarmed" except for his good broadsword. That girl he is stealing is his sweetie who was betrothed to "a laggard in love and a dastard in war"."
