Description

The Big Bad Wolf straps on a girdle as part of his disguise in this original concept/storyboard drawing from one of the sequels to Disney's hit Silly Symphony The Three Little Pigs. Frequently in disguise to catch the pigs he is transforming into Lorelei a mermaid to catch the pigs when they go swimming. Front and back poses of the Big Bad Wolf in full-figure and full color are showcased in this exceptional graphite and colored pencil rendering. The artwork is on 12 field 5-peghole paper numbered 189 in the upper right corner. It's a wonderful pair of images of the Big Bad Wolf, who holds the distinction of being the only other recurring villain in early Disney theatrical shorts besides Peg Leg Pete. He had four appearances. When Horvath died in 1973 this was one of many pieces from his estate that was quickly sold in a catalogue. When I received the catalogue I put it aside but returned to it a few weeks later to order a piece of art. After receiving the art I immediately ordered more, but had missed this piece which finally came home.
