DescriptionIn this 1966 issue, Eric Koenig joins the Howlers as their mission takes them to Berlin, leading to one of the very few times in the series where Nick Fury (Sr.) actually interacts with Hitler. Although Hitler is well acquainted with Fury and his "verdamnt Howling Commandos" and is seen ranting about them many times over the course of the series, this is one of only 3 issues I know of in which Fury and Hitler actually interact one on one. The others are issue #s 66 and 67. Issue #9 feature a mission to "capture Hitler" but they end up snagging an imposter (which Hitler actually refers to in dialogue here, saving Stan Lee the trouble of an explanatory caption). In this sequence, the lone twice up art page in the Fury/Hitler canon, Fury actually gets a firm grip on the genuine article. Unfortunately, the lager-slurpin' SOB slips loose of Fury's mitts in the next panel.Social/Sharing |
