DescriptionI wanted to start 2020 with a bang by posting probably my biggest grail piece thus far: a page from Amazing Spider-Man #361, the 1st appearance issue of Carnage! It's so much fun to not only see the emergence of a new Spidey villain (and what a villain!) but also to enjoy Spidey's reactions when fighting him for the very first time. And although we had had a LOT of Venom by this point, this new symbiote character was a completely different kind of animal. Venom had a kind of warped morality and sense of justice, but Carnage? He just wanted to kill everyone, and how utterly gleeful he was about it! Carnage was so bad-ass that Spidey needed to team up with Venom to even have a CHANCE of defeating him in those early years. And we readers of modern comics know that Carnage has only gotten more maniacal and bloodthirsty as the years have gone by. But that's okay. Cuz really, what is life without a little bit of CARNAGE every once in a while? Thanks for letting me share this one with you all. HAPPY NEW YEAR!! Social/Sharing |

Out of all the target pieces I've watched you go after, this is the one I rooted for the most! You are the biggest Bagley fan I know and it's fitting that this epic first appearance piece by his creator finds its home in your collection! I'm beyond thrilled for you man! What an explosive piece to start 2020!

This is without a doubt my favorite piece in your impressive collection. How rare is it to own a page from this historic issue and what a page to own 👏 I got to hold the actual cover to 361 at NYCC two years ago, so I know how excited you must be to own a page from this issue. Such an impressive page to own. Major congrats buddy!!!

Three panels of solo Spidey action, three panels of solo Carnage action, and one panel of both of them together in battle. All from Carnage's first appearance. Just like Carnage himself, an absolute KILLER!

This would be a grail for many who truly remember this era of comics. Carnage is on a whole other level with his deadly and terrifying presence. My hats off to you. Bagley/Emberlin were a monster talented team.

Wow - sincere congrats, Paul! I remember this page vividly - one of the best from #361 IMO! Spidey discovers that Carnage can make and toss bladed weapons! SO cool. Looks great, AND such an important piece o' Spidey history!

What else can be said, you doubled on a beautiful Bags piece and an historic page from an historic issue, the very definition of a grail in our hobby. This is the Carnage we remember from our childhood, what a nostlagic piece. Like I said, huge, huge congrats on that beauty, Paul, and a perfect fit for your stellar ever-growing collection.

What a great page! Even though I was more of a 1970's to 1980's monster magazine collector (buying those books off the stands), I remember the Maximum Carnage series that went through quite a few different Spidey titles at that time. Definitely the coolest spidey villian in a long time! That made me go to my local comic store, and buy ASM 361 to read Carnage's first appearance. I was not disappointed. And your page----I remember it like it was yesterday that I was reading it. Congrats!

Finding pages from this issue are particularly challenging. Collectors are holding on to them, and I believe that you struck CARNAGE and GOLD with this acquisition to your collection. Congratulations!
