DescriptionArtists have used a variety of techniques to draw Flash's super-speed: "whoosh" lines, blurring and more recently an energy aura. My favorite has always been drawing multiple Flashes as on this cover to Flash #273 by Ross Andru and Dick Giordano. Featuring a few more Flashes than usual, this cover offers a prominent, full-figure Flash in classic running form with typical Bronze Age drama.Thankfully, the villains lined up perfectly on both sides to allow Flash to run through and punch them all! How lucky is that? Social/Sharing |

"Thankfully, the villains lined up perfectly on both sides to allow Flash to run through and punch them all! How lucky is that?" lol, I was thinking the same thing! Great cover though! Congrats and thanks for sharing!

Such an awesome cover ! Ross Andru was always one of the greats IMO, but Giordano's inks bring in the extra "punch" so to speak...:) I love the high concept of this image as well as the final result !

That is for sure a brilliant FLASH Cover, and with a lot of speed!

Andru and Giordano did some truly excellent Flash covers. I'm a huge fan of the them myself Very interesting point about the different type of speed effects. I own 2 Andru Flash covers, on #284 he does a hybrid whoosh line+semi blur thing and on #282 multiple Flashes pummeling Green Lantern. Bring on the Flash TV show the previews look pretty good....

I'll always love Andru's Spidey, but next to that I have great affection for his incredible (and underrated) Flash work.. and this cover is a fantastic example of that! Great part of an amazing collection!

I actually have always loved the varying way that different aetists have rendered the speed lines. In fact, one of my earliest collecting themes back in the 90's was collecting pages that featured flash in motion with great looking speedd lines behind him. In fact, I even have a very clear memory of Mike Burkey asking me what else I collected when I was in the middle of a transaction with him, and I told him "I'm looking for any pages with Flash running and speed lines following him.". But I will say, I also equally love it when the artists draw multiple Flash figures. How can't you?!?
