I don’t know that I’ve seen a better Hercules portrait than this. The costume proportions make more SENSE here (a slightly thinner sash, slightly smaller nether coverings) and coupled with the godly (but not grotesquely over the top) physique and warm olive, Mediterranean-feeling background, it all clicks: this is a wrestler, a grappler, a hand-to-hand fighter beyond compare hailing from a warm, rich clime. This all clicks for me in a way that most other renditions of Hercules seem to fall short. THIS is Hercules. Awesome pick up!
