DescriptionSteel was my favorite character to spin out of the Death of Superman storyline and this is where it all began. This issue features the first appearance of Steel and this page the origin of John Henry Irons. Essentially a complete story on a page, it shows why he was inspired to create the suit of armor and becomes Steel after Superman saves his life and Superman is subsequently killed by Doomsday.Social/Sharing |

A great, key page to get, Matthew, especially given your love for the character. I can't help mention that one of the things I love most about the whole DoS era is the wildly different perceptions, likes and dislikes I hear from fans about it. I, for instance, love Cyborg Superman and he is by far my favourite character (along with Superboy) to come out of this storyline. But I absolutely despise everything about Steel! The interesting thing is that I've spoken with fans who, like yourself, also consider Steel their favourite character to come out of this story and actually HATE Cyborg Superman! But as I said at the top of this paragraph, it's those completely divergent opinions that fans of the story have that makes it all so interesting. Because when all is said and done, one thing fans DO agree on is that it was a very fun and entertaining era for the Man of Steel. Congrats on this acquisition, man!
