Description"Across a Crowded Room..." is my single favorite Justice League story! It's also my single favorite Comic Book of 1988! It's the After-Party (or Cast Party) for the show that was Invasion and in some ways the casting session for Justice League Europe.Panel One was one I selected way back in 2020 as part of my 30-Day Comic Book Challenge as "A comic that makes you feel happy." So that naturally translates to Comic Art as well! Hawkman! Green Lantern! Wonder Woman! Booster Gold! Hawkgirl! Metamorpho! Major Force! Ice! Firestorm! Flash! Atom! Guy Gardner! Batman! Animal Man! Blue Beetle! G'Nort! The Creeper! Mr. Miracle! Rocket Red! Captain Atom! Power Girl! Elongated Man! Pissed off and ready to kick some butt! Panel Two: The literal punchline of Guy Gardner's Green Lantern Fist punching through the 4 forgotten Khund Commando team that recently was restored to their standard size! Very nice facial contortions and expressions by Maguire as if he studied the many faces of Jim Carrey. I wonder if the SNL 50 after party had the same issue when they spotted Chevy.

Pure comic book magic! From the sharp character expressions in the top panel to the explosive, high-energy action below, Maguire’s signature storytelling skills are on full display here! The dynamic composition, crisp linework, and perfect balance of detail and motion make this a standout piece. And that impact shot? Absolutely awesome. What a great score!
