Description

This one is really special to me. A friend informed me they were holding a big comic con in Irving, TX in 2011 (hadn't been since '94). And Stan Lee would be there. After a little research online, I found out Bernie would also be there. I had to go!

My first stop was Bernie's table where he and Liz sat with a couple of portfolios in front of them filled with his original artwork. I was in heaven. I hadn't brought much money so pared my favorites down to the two best affordable ones. I must've been at their table for about an hour (I definitely let others look when they came) before I selected this detailed Swamp Thing portrait. It had a yellow sticky note with price of $200 written on it, which was most of what I'd brought with me. Liz looked at me and quietly said "$100". I couldn't believe it, "Are you sure?!" She said "Yes." and smiled. She turned to Bernie and explained what she was doing, and he nodded and smiled in agreement. I asked her if I could hug her and she obliged. I'll never forget that kind gesture by both of them, the two nicest folks I've ever met and encountered at comic con. ❤
