Fun story--I had worked my way up to second in line to have Jim sign my Marvel Universe: The End page which had Wonder Man on it. Jim was not doing any sketches. It was when he was dealing with his hand injury. Jim was collecting donations for Hero's Initiative, and he was trying to encourage people to give more. He had a bucket out and said, "Let's get a $20 in here." He asked the person in front of me, "If I draw a quick sketch for you, will you put $20 in the bucket?" That person hesitated, and Jim asked me the same question. I immediately said, "Sure," and asked for Wonder Man. Wonder Man is a favorite of mine, and he was the first one I thought of since I had a reference in my hand! I talked to Jim years later, and he did not recall the incident. He did say, "I was not drawing then."
