Description

An icon of Science Fiction -- the pointy-nosed finned rocket. And Ed Valigursky did some of the best! Here is a simple rocket scene over an alien planet (moon?) that is quintessential Valigursky. It appears this may be an interior piece, but I am not sure if/where it was published (if anybody knows please sing out)! This piece is also notable because it is actually signed, which Valigursky seldom did.

The images were so strong and memorable that I still don't know if these actually ever existed. We thought they looked real enough as kids and drew rocketships based on these designs.

Beautifully executed! Really captures the extreme clarity of airless space (haven't been myself, but it evokes the feeling I expect to have once I venture off the planet).
