DescriptionIt's not a published page or cover..Shucks, it's not even a finished inked drawing... But ya know what? It's a Spidey. From (IMO) one of the greatest Spider-Man artist of all time. I don't think any Spider-Man collection is 'complete' without art from John Romita and I truly feel like I've just augmented my collection with this piece. This drawing is 3 years older than me and holding it in my hands for the first time felt surreal. Knowing it was created by a legend, during an era of greatness far before my time - It was a magical experience and I'm honored to own it. I picked this up during the last Comic Art Live event on CAF, so it goes without saying that I owe a huge thanks to Bill Cox for giving us the platform to make something like this feasible. Also, thanks to Ron Lim (not the artist) for selling this beauty to me and being super cool. I'm grateful for it brother and my collection is better because of you. This will most definitely be going up on my wall. *Happy* :) Social/Sharing |

Agile and strong, Romita's Spider-Man exemplifies Marvel's house style for decades. The look would become the prevailing and dominating imagery associated with Spidey and the whole of Marvel.

Sure, not published, not inked, but still an outstanding JRSR example. All the central tenets are there and you don't doubt it's the man when you see it. Love the pose! Big congrats!

Can't beat John Romita Sr. when it comes to drawing Sider-Man. Romita defined the look of Spider-Man for my whole generation. His Spider-Man wasn't as lean as Ditko's but he had a bit more muscle, making his defeat of Villains like the Sandman and Kraven and the Green Goblin that much more plausible. And besides, all that exercise he was getting battling villains MUST have put a little more muscle on his body, right? If Ditko was there for the birth od Spider-Man, Romita was depicting him when he grew up. Fabulous pencil sketch, serious congrats!

Growing up on the Animated Series, I always appreciated a more filled out version of Spidey. I think thats why I immiediately fell in love with Romita Sr. and Saviuk's interpretation of him. Thanks for all the love, Bill!
