DescriptionFrom 'Arena' issue. I think Bob is one of the best at drawing Cannonball, which shows here.It gets washed out on the published version, but you can see Spider-man and Karma in the stands inside the M. Bob has a page about the cover in his Hows & Whys book. https://bobmcleod.com/products/catalogue/art-book-the-hows-and-whys-of-drawing-comics_2924/ Social/Sharing |

McLeod's intensive artwork for this cover holds up just as spectacularly as it did when first pubblished. He spared no effort and relentlessly put as much detail on these covers possible. The crowd shows just that along with the wonderful facial expressions speaking to his talent. Everything was just right about McLeod's teen team! A classic 80's cover than many bought off the stands.

Such a memorable cover! Beautifully drawn and so nice to see in the inked form. And is that a pencilled Spider-man in the UPC box? Talk about a nice bonus bit of art! Huge congrats!

Great cover. All the detail in this must have taken Bob forever. Congrats on another great addition to your New Mutants collection.

I love the Spidey in the UPC box that was never published. Bonus for owning the original art!

Wow! I shouldn't be surprised that you have this awesome cover with your collection, but seeing it officially with you makes me happy. Huge congrats!

All of the early McLeod New Mutants issues were fantastic and so memorable, so this one is no exception. I love that that the cover focuses on my 2 favourite team members, but I'm even more impressed by all the spectators McLeod chose to draw, and in such clear detail!

McLeod didn't pencil & ink may NM issues but all were of incredible quality. This superb cover is no exception.

Classic cover image! NM vs NM in the gladiatorial arena with Spidey looking on! And it was only $100?! ;) Congrats!

I remember selling that to Bechara back in 96 or 97 at the Chicago Comic Con for like 400 bucks. I had it a long time, but never noticed the spider-man or Karma in the crowd. Honestly i might have kept it had I seen it lol. OH well, good to see it again after all these decades.

Wow, this is such a memorable cover for me drenched in nostalgia. This came out in my first month or two of collecting comics and this image is forever etched in my brain. Love this. Not sure how I missed this or how it only has 486 views after being up for almost 3 years in CAF. Congratulations on a landmark piece.

Happy to provide a nostalgia fix! As for views... of my top 20 pieces here, only two are published. I guess people prefer my commissions. 🤷

This one is so nostalgic that it hurts a little, which means I love it!
