Convention sketch of Catcher(SCALPED) by R.M. GUÉRA
A4 size (8.3in x 11.7in)

This amazing watercolor was done in 2018 on the 2nd edition of CoimbraBD, a small comics festival in Coimbra, Portugal, where Guera was one of the guests. As usual at this type of event, the invited artists are asked to do free signings for some hours.
During the signings he signed my copy of a Thor anthology with a short story drawn by him and Scalped vol.1, an old copy that had a signed bookplate from a signing he and Jason Aaron attended in 2010(?) at Gosh! Comics in London.
After that I gave Guéra my sketchbook and asked him to draw whatever he wanted. He asked for help coming up with ideas, a character or something and I told him he could do whatever he wanted for me to frame and put on my wall. He was very chatty that day, very friendly, said he loved this kind of small events that allow him to spend a little time one on one with his fans and while he talked his heart out, he didn’t stop doing this amazing watercolor. He kept adding and adding details. People on the line were getting impatience but I wasn’t going to rush him. I mean, I was seeing this masterpiece forming right before my eyes. He acknowledged he shouldn’t have taken so much time with me but it was noticeable he was kind of proud of the watercolor he just did. It was by far the best sketch he did at the event and I’ve seen a bunch he did that day. I think the fact that I told him it was going into my wall made him go he extra mile.
When he stopped adding details, my girlfriend asked to have her copy of the Goddamned vol.1 signed. Just sign since we took so long with him but he wanted to draw something and did a really quick sketch of a lady singing into a microphone.

That looks like Catcher but helluva sketch either way. Guera is a master.
