DescriptionPosting in memory of Steve Lightle who sadly passed away today, way too young. Steve was one of the first comic artists I ever bought art directly from and I corresponded with him over the years. He was a brilliant artist who always had time for his fans. I only wish he would have drawn more comics during his career as his output was mainly limited to covers after his memorable run on the Legion of Super-Heroes ended. This cover features the wedding of Wally West to Linda Park and I've been the only owner since buying it from Steve in 1998. For whatever reason, the editor wanted Steve to re-draw Superman's face, which he did on a little separate piece of board, taped to the back. (I've included a scan.) DC blurred the background characters for the published version, so I"m not sure why they bothered changing the face. I really wish they would have published it as is as I don't think the blurring does justice to the art. Social/Sharing |

Beautiful cover! Always admired this one and the #139 from your old site. Glad to know you still have them.

Thanks Ceasar. It's hard to believe I've now owned these for over 22 years!

They always say the wedding is about the bride and this cover proves it focusing our eyes to Linda at the center ... and she couldn't look more lovely. Just beautiful. Also noteworthy are the upfront images of Jay to the right and Superman on the left standing in as the proud father-figure since Barry wasn't around at this time to take his rightful place in that role. Lightle really captured the exuberance of the event!
