DescriptionAdam Hughes does so few "fully developed" sketches that I've had to make peace with the possibility that my number will never come up in commissioning one.My consolation prize was this older convention sketch purchased from a dealer at Fan Expo Boston, I believe in whatever year it was first presented as "Fan Expo Boston" after Boston Comic Con was sold. The dealer was keen to point out the "big, classic AH!" signature. The price was so affordable that I was worried I was getting taken for a ride. The other signature is Al Gordon, and I can kind of only assume that this was done sometime in the 1990s. I tweeted at Adam Hughes himself and was like "does this look like it's really yours?" He said "yeah, looks like me!" and I took that as good enough. So hopefully it's really real. I'm pretty sure all of the Adam Hughes original art gets immediately snapped up by collectors with much more money than me, but you can still throw money at his and Allison Sohn's Patreon: https://www.patreon.com/adamhughes Social/Sharing |

Al probably inked over a looser sketch that Adam did. Nowadays I would say if you were looking to get a Hughes sketch inked, make a blueline of it and save the original as is.

I got this one as-is. If I was to get an AH drawing of my own commissioning, even if it was just a square drawn in blue pencil and signed "AH!," you'd better believe I'd be keeping it as the maestro rendered it.
