DescriptionCommissioned through the Green Room. Really enjoyed chatting with Pepe when I picked up this piece- he described how he didn’t want to go with a typical Spidey pose, and that he wanted there to be a before and after to the image. I think he captured that sense of renegotiating the swing mid-flight really nicely. Some of the birds are done in ink, and others in inkwash. I like the variety and depth the different approaches give the piece. The scan doesn’t capture the white contrast Pepe added to make the figure and the birds stand out more. The photo in the additional images does a better job of capturing it. Definitely an exclamation point from the artist for the upcoming Amazing Spider-Man relaunch! Larraz was amazing- so kind and generous with his time and his incredible skill. Thanks, Pepe and Icíar! EDIT: looks like this image was the basis for Pepe’s ASM#2 cover, which incorporates the birds and a close variation of the pose (the legs midair are almost identical!). How cool! Social/Sharing |

He nailed the spidey pose, but I LOVE the birds and the different styles, such a great touch!

I think the webbing is a fantastic part of the piece! Obviously the Spidey and birds are great as well!

Holy cow, a Spidey by Pepe! It's tough getting a commission from him, and he definitely delivered on this. Cool use of the birds to make it feel a bit more lived in (and not just a random swinging pose in empty space). Huge congrats!

I love the original pose and birds around Spidey! Congrats with this commission, Pepe Larraz is one of the hottest artist at this moment and doesn't offer commissions often!

Oh this is AMAZING, man! I'm a huge Larraz fan and no question why when looking at images like this. So clearly Pepe. Killer pose and such uniquely good use of grey tones! Congrats!
