DescriptionGOOD GRIEF, WOMAN, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME?!?It’s time to post my 100th piece of original art, and what better way than a JR jr piece from the Chris Claremont era 100th issue, Uncanny X-Men #193. This page checks a lot of big boxes and thrilled to share it on here. First off the Claremont era of X-Men is HUGE, it really revived the X-Men to thrive the way it is today. His run on stories for this X-series and many others that he was able to breathe life into is monumental. Some of my favorite characters created and crazy lasting story arcs originated with him. So to have a page from a celebration of his work, 100th issue of the New 2nd Generation of X-Men is a real treat. Secondly, it’s my first John Romita Jr piece of art. My collection is so much more complete by having a piece of his original art and from a fun issue like this. This page features Professor X all leathered out in an outfit provided by the leader of the Morlocks, former model Callisto (who really appears to look like David Bowie’s Ziggy Stardust). The Morlocks (the outcasts of the outcasts, so to speak) rescued Prof X after he was attacked by some mutant hating humans, attacking him for his support of mutants at the University that he taught at. He awakes from being knocked out and the first thing he sees is Callisto next to him bedside. He then notices he is in some kinky leather adorned from Callisto. Their banter is iconic. WHY AM I HERE . . . WHERE ARE MY CLOTHES?!! GOOD GRIEF, WOMAN, WHAT HAVE YOU DONE TO ME?!? These are questions I am often asking myself and I say this phrase often as an inside joke to my partner. Pages and art truly entering our lives. Callisto’s snarky yet respectful response is great “Saved your life for starters”. Then gets into the meat of it that these often forgotten mutants get taken advantage of and taken for granted. They don’t get to live up top and have any chance for a normal life, like the X-Men. It’s a great reminder that even the Outcasts have ousted others different than themselves. Dan Green’s line and detail work all over this page, from spikes, brickwork, hair and all the gory good details is a real treat and talent clearly seen on this page. His combination with JRjr is absolutely fantastic, as with his work on many of my pages. A hero to be clearly praised and sung out loud. I love how many pages I’ve been able to see his work on and that I have so many. More to come. So much in this page to love, but most of all seeing Professor X in this leather gear, complete with head band, gauntlets, harness, arm bands, choker, ear jewelry, leg bands, belt and boots. That’s a lot of extra care from Callisto to have him with all this kit. Happy 100 to all of you that have been fortunate to make it there as well, in whatever manner that makes you happy and want to celebrate. Social/Sharing |

Ha ha, definitely a trip to see Xavier geared up this way :) Great top to bottom page, man, and from a landmark issue in the Claremont run. AND your first JRJR piece?! Huge congrats on your 100th CAF add, man - glad you were able to check such a biggie off the list!

Incredible page, a peak-period example of Romita Jr X-Men!. That said, you had me at 'Leather Pleasure Prof X', congrats James!

We all know that Xavier had this underneath his suit the whole time. Maybe he's just mad he wasn't awake when they stripped him. The bricks of Callisto's bedroom dungeon and the spiked and studded leather were a great reminder how X-Men were at the forefront of outsider fashion trends. Big Willy Cox would confess on HD-CAM that this page is the reason he became fetishized with the X-Men and became a lifelong fan.

We all have our vices Marcus! Big Willy's vice is showing off leather Professor Triple-X art. Our vice is making fun of Bill's vice!

Knockout of an X-Men page with Professor X in full bondage gear courtesy of the Morlock's leader, Callisto! As Ben Grimm would say, "What a revoltin' development!"

Lots to enjoy on this page, as has been discussed--but I'm going to single out something less obvious than Prof. X's studded leather headband to point out that, as always, Dan Green's inks were such a perfect complement to JRJR's art on that run. Look at all the texture and detail in that middle panel--there was always an authenticity to that era of UXM that made their world feel lived-in and very real, and Green's inks played a big part. Congrats on a great page!

COMGRATS on hitting 100 in such themey, signature style, James!! JR, Jr. X-Men is no joke, and from Claremont's 100th issue as well? Well played, sir... Well played... :)
I always liked Romita's Callisto, and that top tier is great... In the beginning there was nothing, and in a moment, everything flashed and around us formed... Morlocks?!? Super cool page, posted for a fantastic occasion, James! Here's to the next hundred! :)
