DescriptionMy first piece of art by one of my favorite artists Paolo Rivera had to be something special. When going through his pages, I noticed there were still some page left of one of my all-time favorite short stories at Marvel in "Amazing Spider-Man Extra #2" by Zeb Wells.In the end, I decided on the the 18th & final page of their famous "Birthday Boy" story, one of the absolute best Marvel put out on Spider-Man & Wolverine. Overall, it's the 42nd page of the comic. Both the story & the art capture the essence of both characters so well & do it in only 18 pages. It's a must read for fans of either one of the heroes, for sure. I love this short story so much I even wrote a lengthy special on it for the Dutch website I'm the editor-in-chief at: https://www.brainfreeze.be/comic/2019/01/05/10-jaar-na-spider-man-extra-2-een-winterse-terugblik-op-een-van-marvels-beste-kortverhalen/ I have used "love" a lot in this post, but I do love this piece! Especially the storytelling with Peter being a loner, a Wolvie in the distance, & that final panel of snowy New York City! Originally, one of the smaller panels was still in pencil, but it got shipped out to Paolo so he could ink it. I took advantage of that and asked if he could sign the page, as well as add a nice Spider-Man print from his shop which personalized for me too! He obliged and added a book marker with a "thank you" note as well. I also got a 11x17 color print of the page which was signed as well. Lovely experience! Social/Sharing |
