Description

Never would I have dreamt to meet Peach Momoko & get a commission from one of the hottest artists in the business. Until today, only one of the two things has happened.

Last year, I was supposed to meet her at Lake Como, but unfortunately, she couldn't make it there. Then, due to some other life priorities, I couldn't make it to this year's 2023 edition. Marriages are expensive!

Luckily, this hobby has some amazing people in it & I was able to VERY last minute - literally an hour or less before the show opened - get someone to go to her table. It all worked out; she did this throughout the first day & I was happy to add a bit of a finder's fee for my buddy's troubles. The nice pictures of Peach working on the piece & then when she was finished with it, are a great bonus.

I think Peach was a fan of this piece, too, as she used it to recap her first day of the Lake Como convention. It's crazy when you see a piece you own, posted on social media & get just shy of 7000 likes.

The result is this beautiful, cute & manga-like Black Cat. Very typical Momoko, with some great watercolor & strong composition. I particularly like the left hand & how Peach posed that. And finally, the little stars & washed out background touches are the cherry on top. Size is a bit smaller than 11x17.

PS. There's a bit more nuance to the watercolor in real life, but the scan couldn't pick up on all the subtleties.
