DescriptionOne of the big names for FACTS Fall Edition 2023 this weekend was the magnificent Mark Buckingham. It was great to see him again, after Lake Como in 2022 (and that gorgeous Spidey-Sense Spider-Man).Mark's one of the nicer people in the hobby, and such a trooper. From the very first minute to the last, he was signing books for fans & doodled in most of them. His line was long, but no one minded: Mark took his time with you. My wife & I waited for the right time when it was a bit slower & we may have been at his table for close to half an hour. We chatted a bit, about Como, his family, his work & the commission he had brought with him for me. To my surprise, Mark remembered us, and when leaving laughingly said that this probably wouldn't be the last commission he'd do for me. I may have to take him up to that offer at one point in the future! Another funny bit was when Mark insisted on lowering the price a bit, because he had a cheaper price in mind. The difference was only €5, but it's the principle. Back in June, I had contacted him for another watercolor piece (which he wasn't doing at the show). This time, I wanted to see his take on MJ again - I'm a sucker for that Valentine short story he did. So did Mark, I think, because he said that he enjoyed working way too much on this one. That's why he went full figure instead of a bust & added some nice Spidey flair around there. Happy to see that he went with the Romita Sr take, too. The commission was done in pencils, inks, watercolor & I believe some colored pencils. Size is A4. Social/Sharing |

Nice 70's era Romita look! I wouldn't be surprised if she was wearing bell bottoms as she certanly has the hips for them.
